Ty Defoe is a citizen of the Anishinaabe/ Oneida Nations. A Grammy Award-winning interdisciplinary artist and sovereign story trickster. Fellow of Robert Rauschenberg, MacDowell, Sundance, Kennedy Center’s Next 50, and Becoming America’s Trans Futurist. Ty is a recipient of the Jonathan Larson and the Helen Merrill Awards. Ty creates work with communities, productions, and in the metaverse, fostering relations for Indigenous and decolonial futures. Publications: Casting a Movement, Thorny Locust, Routledge Press, Bloomsbury, Theater: Yale’s Criticism, Plays, & Reportage. Degrees: CalArts, Goddard College, NYU Tish. A professor of practice at ASU, Medieval and Renaissance Studies, and is the writer-in-residence at PACE University
